We have some exciting AI news today: Figma has unveiled a suite of AI-powered design tools, and Stripe introduces an AI foundation model to enhance payment processing.

1. Figma Fires Back at Adobe and Canva With All-in-One AI Design Suite

Figma just dropped a massive AI-powered update, introducing four new tools—Sites, Make, Buzz, and Draw—that aim to transform it into a complete design ecosystem. Now, users can build websites, generate code, create marketing assets, and design vector art all within Figma—no more bouncing between WordPress, Illustrator, or Canva. With integrations powered by Claude 3.7 and smart AI prompts, Figma is positioning itself as a serious challenger to Adobe’s creative dominance.

2. Stripe Unveils AI Model for Smarter Payments and Partners With Nvidia

Stripe just launched a powerful AI foundation model trained on billions of transactions to supercharge fraud detection and optimize payments, boosting its accuracy against attacks by 64% overnight. At its annual event, Stripe also announced a deeper partnership with Nvidia, stablecoin-backed multicurrency accounts, and a suite of new tools including Orchestration for managing global payments, Smart Disputes for AI-powered chargeback handling, and an expansion of Stripe Tax to 102 countries — all part of a major push to become the one-stop platform for global commerce.

3. Meta Plans Facial Recognition for AI Glasses, Sparking Privacy Concerns

Meta is reportedly developing facial recognition for future versions of its smart glasses, allowing wearers to identify people around them by name — even without their consent. Dubbed "super sensing," the tech could run for hours and may bypass visual indicators like a recording light, raising major privacy red flags. While users would opt in, bystanders wouldn’t know they’re being scanned, fueling fears of a surveillance backlash reminiscent of the Google Glass era — only now, it’s supercharged with AI.

4. Singapore Unites Global AI Giants with New Blueprint for Safer AI

In a rare show of global unity, Singapore has unveiled a new plan to guide international research on AI safety, bringing together top scientists and companies from the US, China, and Europe. The “Singapore Consensus” encourages collaboration across geopolitical divides, focusing on frontier model risks, safer AI development methods, and ways to keep powerful AI systems under control—an urgent effort as nations race to dominate the AI future.

5. Fastino Raises $17.5M to Build Tiny AI Models That Run on Cheap Gaming GPUs

While Big Tech is busy training trillion-parameter models on supercomputers, Fastino is taking the opposite route—training ultra-efficient, task-specific AI models using off-the-shelf gaming GPUs. The Palo Alto startup just raised $17.5 million in seed funding led by Khosla Ventures to expand its suite of lightweight models for enterprise tasks like redacting sensitive data and summarizing documents. Fastino claims its models are not only faster and cheaper to train, but also more accurate for specific use cases—delivering full responses in milliseconds.

6. Amazon Unveils Vulcan: Its First Robot With a Sense of Touch

Amazon has introduced Vulcan, a groundbreaking warehouse robot with the ability to feel. Unlike past machines that blindly pushed through tasks, Vulcan uses touch sensors and AI to carefully pick, place, and stow items with human-like finesse—making warehouse work safer, faster, and less physically demanding. Already deployed in U.S. and German fulfillment centers, Vulcan is part of Amazon’s broader push to blend robotics and physical AI to boost efficiency while creating more skilled jobs.
